Lotus Notes 8.0.1 and startup time

James T Kork |   | Tags:  notes lotus time 8.0.1 performance rcp startup | Comments (3)  |  Visits (367)
I have read a lot of posts on that toppic, everybody seems to be amazed by the improved start up time of the 8.0.1 client..
Hey!!!!!
It takes ages. OK it got faster comparing the 8.0.0 client. So i think there is still a lot of potential perfomancegaps to be filled.
I think it got todo withe the client architecture. It is pree loading the whole eclipse plattform. If you use the productivitytools (did thea change the name on that?) it takes even longer.
Did you ever compare the basic client against the rcp client??
that ist worlds apart.
So my conclusion.......
IBM is on the right way but miles to go ;-)

I agree with you that if you are using the productivity tools that it does greatly increase the amount of time it takes for the client to load. I have tried it both ways and there is a vast difference in the speed. The Mac 8.5 client is lightning fast, hopefully it won't see a slowdown when symphony is added to it.

Well i totally agree there. Hopefully we will see a decrease in time needed with 8.5.
I was on an event in Stuttgart, Germany tody to ask exactly this question. The answer was very vague and we might have to wait and see.
The basic client whatsoever is fast as ever (without the productivity tools). Today IBM said there is still a lot of plans to change/improve the productivity tools in many ways... hopfully startuptime is a big point there..
