Connections and Sametime - Play nice you two!!!!!

Bob Seifert  |    |  Tags:  lotus connections sametime  |  Comments (6)
So we have all 5 Connections installed and running, but.........the fun is yet to come. We are trying to get the presence awareness to work in the Profiles section of 1.0.2, but it loves to hate us!!!! Some of IBM's best are working to resolve the issues we are running into, but it's definitely tough going right now. I do have to say though, I'm really looking forward branding this Connections install. I do have a question though.

HAS ANYONE GOTTEN CONNECTIONS AND SAMETIME TO ACTUALLY PLAY NICE?!!?!?!!?

Signing off,
B

1 Chris Whisonant      Permalink Good luck.... Are you sure that you have SSO completely working BOTH ways. I'm having an issue with that here at BleedYellow. I can login to connections and then open up names.nsf on the sametime box and stay authenticated. But if I initially login to one of the domino servers and then try to switch to something in connections the token isn't passing. So make sure you check that out too both ways.

Actually, if I use a test html page with stlinks and have then login to profiles in another tab, I can see my status as active... So it DOES work. Also, it is working at the Greenhouse. When I talked to Mac Guidera about my issues at Lotusphere, he said "good luck" - so apparently it doesn't play TOO nicely and there has to be some coaxing.

I have some things still to try with BleedYellow's setup, but unfortunately that will involve me bouncing the was stuff... I will probably try that tomorrow night. Also, there will be more awareness with 2.0, from what I understand.

Keep us in the loop on this.

2 Bob Seifert      Permalink I've got some of the IBM experts helping me out as well, they have some other Connections as well as Sametime server-side configs to try regarding port 8082 being blocked (not sure if it is client or server side), as well as double checking hostInfo.js to make sure that the HTTP Tunneling port is set to 8082 and making sure the tunneling address is set to blank. I will keep everyone up to date with any progress we happen to make.

3 Chris Whisonant      Permalink I was getting java console errors regarding 8082 even though I could telnet to 8082 as well as go to http://im.bleedyellow.com:8082. Are you able to do that too? Looking forward to hearing more.

4 Bob Seifert      Permalink We can't even telnet to 8082, so something has got to be blocking it, whether it's the remote firewall or something on the server, we're not sure of yet. I'll keep you posted.

5 Luis A Benitez      Permalink Ok.. I had some issues as well. There were several things that I had to do to get it to work:

1) Make sure PROF_SOURCE_UID is the user's distinguished name from Domino
2) Verify SSO works properly
a) Log in to Profiles, go to ST and verify you are logged in
b) Close browser
c) Clear cache
d) Close browser
e) Go to ST and log in
f) Go to Profiles and make sure you are logged in

3) If you are using directory assistance (i.e. your LDAP is not Domino) then make sure it is set up correctly so that it can search for users based on internet email address.

6 Luis A Benitez      Permalink Oh and if you have McAfee, make sure that it's not using one of the ports that ST needs...
