Technote 1329103 (published yesterday) indicates that copy-style compacting in 8.0.2 can cause database corruption. Thankfully, I haven't (knowingly) had the pleasure of encountering said situation, but there is a heck of a good chance I could have...

Ghosting inbox in 8.0.2

Chris Mobley  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 gray pale inbox ghosting  |  Comments (2)  |  Visits (19)
I've had about 4 users now call me to complain about their inbox text turning a pale gray as if all the entries are ghosted.  The background stays white.  Additionally it seems the scroll bar doesn't work properly.   The problem goes away if they close their...

Upgrading local archives

Peter Smith  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 archive upgrade  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (65)
As part of my current project to upgrade an organisation from 6.5 to 8.0.2, we have an issue where users have multiple local archives with editor access and enforce consistent ACLs set. We don't know what they might have called the files, and have no realistic...

... automatically preventing the buildup of performance-robbing deposits. Haven't seen this one before.  Happened while using Admin client version 8.0.2.  Hooray for increased detail in error messages.

Chris Whisonant  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 hotfix notes client cch1  |  Comments (2)  |  Visits (475)
IBM Technote 7014028 has been published with details on Notes 8.0.2 CCH1. Some things to note. It appears that Smart Upgrade will need to use this string for the target client version "Release 8.0.2 CCH1". There is also a listing of the SPR's...

Notes 8.0.2 Hotfix (CCH1) released.

Chris Mobley  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 notes cch1 hotfix  |  Comments (3)  |  Visits (566)
Got an email from IBM Tech Support with a link to their ftp site to download the Notes 8.0.2 client CCH1 hotfix.  This hotfix supposedly fixes the hang on startup and maybe a few other SPR's I blogged about. Bad news is that you will have to contact tech...

RSS Feeds in 8.0.2 Standard behind Proxy Server

Peter Smith  |   |  Tags: proxy rss 8.0.2  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (125)
Setting up an 8.0.2 messaging pilot and RSS feeds weren't working - when you tried to add on you get a "server returned error :0" style message. The customer has a web proxy so added the FQDN of the proxy server to the location document (basic tab...

Chris Mobley  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 dwa inbox scrolling  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (134)
So my testing of DWA 8.0.2 has gone pretty well, and I'm moving forward with deployment.   I blogged about a bug with nested groups in the Sametime Contact List here. But I have run into another bug that might be a little more troubling for the user.   ...

Since I never saw any posting of an 8.0.2 "Revised" client they told me about 3 weeks ago I decided to call them.   The latest word is a Cumulative Client Hotfix (CCH1) is scheduled to be released this Friday (10 Oct).  The CCH will be a download...

Chris Mobley  |   |  Tags: upgrade 8.0.2 domino  |  Comments (4)  |  Visits (215)
I completed my last mail server upgrade just now.  Yes, I am brave enough to do it on a Friday!  So all mail servers are now Domino 8.0.2.  I still have my ST, QP, and BES servers to do, but the hard part is over. Next week I start piloting the client...

Chris Mobley  |   |  Tags: hang bug sametime interfaces freeze 8.0.2 multiple  |  Comments (3)  |  Visits (508)
I opened a PMR this morning about some Notes 8.0.2 client issues I've been having.   Some of my test installs are hanging after login.   Most of my test installs were getting multiple Sametime interfaces.  I blogged about both of these. IBM tells me they are...

First 8.x Domino upgrade in my production domain.

Chris Mobley  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 upgrade domino  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (184)
The first production server upgrade is always the scariest.  You are told that the directory and other system databases are backward compatible, but for some reason you are never quite sure. I upgraded my first production Domino server this week from 7.0.3 to...

Selection margin returns to your mail databases

David Jones  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 notes email  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (176)
With the 8.0.2 client you can now get your selection margin (I think usually referred to as the "gutter", maybe?) back in your mail file. Just go into your Preferences and under Basic Notes Client Configuration find it at the bottom of the...

Notes 8.0.2 now on my laptop, small ST issue.

Chris Mobley  |   |  Tags: 8.0.2 upgrade sametime notes  |  Comments (2)  |  Visits (294)
I loaded 8.0.2 on my laptop yesterday.  The upgrade went smoothly although I'm still amazed it takes 10 minutes and the progress bar goes across like 50 times. I'm having a small issue with the integrated Sametime.  I'm noticing that the floating ST buddy...
