Mac mail as IMAP client

We had quite a few mac users in our environment. Instead of using the Notes mac client, they have chosen to set up their mac mail using our IMAP settings. I'm cool with that. However, when a person schedules them for a meeting and they accept/decline, the notice doesn't come back into the meeting chair as if they processed it through a true notes client. It comes back as a .ics attachment. So in order for the meeting chair to view invitee status, they have to open up the .ics attachment and import it into their calendar (at least that's the only way I have found to do this so far). We are using Notes 8.5. The other thing we found is that it does not place the meeting on the recipients Notes calendar. Is there a better way to set this up beyond telling the user to use the Notes client on their mac?

A tag is a keyword that is used to categorize an entry. To view the entries with a particular tag, click a tag name or enter a tag in the box.
The tag cloud indicates the frequency of tag use. Popular tags appear darkest. The slider control adjusts how many tags are displayed in the tag cloud.
1 Keith Nolen Permalink I think you are out of luck. The IMAP database does not have the calendaring and scheduling features, which which are implemented via LotusScript code in the standard Notes mail DB template.
You could write your own code into the IMAP database, but why take
on that project when the functionality is there already? Besides,
this is a non-trivial effort.
From a corporate policy standpoint, I would not allow users to use
another mail client and would turn off IMAP support at the server.
Probably a huge reason you bought Notes & Domino is for the
messaging/calendaring/scheduling integration. I would not allow
these users to make my life difficult because they prefer the IMAP
client. Your corporate standard is Notes; any variant is
unsupported.
2 Barbara Skedel Permalink Thanks for your response Keith. Unfortunately I have to run IMAP because our company permits non-Blackberry devices to retrieve their mail from the server (long story about iphones...). When asked about this again, I'll just say that is why Lotus provides a Mac version of the client; so you can get the full functionality of mail and calendaring.
