New Designer Tools For Inspector

Peter Presnell |   | Tags:  inspector .dominoframework | Comments (0)  |  Visits (488)
The Inspector tool, provides a way of accessing some of the functionaility of the .Domino Framework from any Notes application.  Previous beta releases of the .Domino Framework have included the ability to Sign a database.  The 1.0 release will include additional capabilities to remove links to templates at the design element level as well as removing the "No refresh" flag that can be set for design elements.  These three operations are often executed as part of a deployment of code to production.  In the past I have had to use a range of tools to perform these tasks such as the Domino Administration cleint (Sign) and Teamstudio Design Manager (for the other two).  I am also working on a fourth option to Recompile the LotusScript code.

.SCRUM

Peter Presnell |   | Tags:  .scrum agile_programming .dominoframework | Comments (0)  |  Visits (574)
Some time ago I had the opportunity to work with agile programming techniques as part of an ASP.Net development team.  The methodology we ended up using was an adaptation of the SCRUM methodology.  I wanted something more sophisticated than Excel spreadsheets to manage the projects I was working on, and ,as is often the case in many large organizations, it became a political minefield trying to convince someone to invest in a third-party tool to assist with the management of the SCRUM process.  Being an ex-Notes developer I was able to quickly develop a basic tools for managing the SCRUM process.
Now that I am back doing full-time Notes development I am again in a position where I wish to exploit the power of the SCRUM methodology to manage the many Notes projects I am now working on.  To do this I am taking this same SCRUM application I developed for C# development and expanding/adapting it to meet my current environment.  In the process I plan to implement the application using the .Domino Framework I have been developing (available as an OpenNTF project).
The new application will also be an OpenNTF project so that others in the Notes world with an interest in SCRUM may be able to take advantage of the work done.  If there are any Notes developers out there with an interest in SCRUM and would like to contribute to the project please feel free to contact me (peter@presnell.com).  The same applies with the .Domino Framework itself.....
All going well I hope to have an initial beta release available on OpenNTF within the next 1-2 months.
