So apparently in Lotusphere 2001, when "
RNext" was ND6, IBM/Lotus had plans for developers to be able to start/commit/rollback transactions to NSF.
Supposedly it was in the R6 Beta. Where did this go? Was it thrown to the side as we stepped onto the Workplace path? Information here is sparse.
This is a common feature that RDBMSs support that people have been asking for NSF to support for years. Anybody know anything about it? Some more searching uncovered another article from R5 mentioning it.

Hi Erik,
I haven't heard anything specifically about this feature. It could
be that, when IBM/Lotus was trying the put the NSF into DB2, they
were planning that that would provide commit/rollback.
Now that NSFDB2 is no longer viable, IBM may include this as an
improvement to native NSF (since they have stated that they want to
make NSF great.)
All speculation on my part, of course.
