It simply amazes me that

A tag is a keyword that is used to categorize an entry. To view the entries with a particular tag, click a tag name or enter a tag in the box.
The tag cloud indicates the frequency of tag use. Popular tags appear darkest. The slider control adjusts how many tags are displayed in the tag cloud.
1 Tim Tripcony Permalink I'm logged in... but I think I have an outdated version of the Connect client.
2 Keith H Brooks Permalink It works for me almost always, although last week at Lotusphere I was unable to connect on my ideapad and a fresh install of connect 801 client.
Perhaps there is some anomaly in certain versions of xp?
3 Stuart McIntyre Permalink It is a crap service - no question.
However, the client version seems to be the key. On the Mac, 8.0 of
the Sametime Connect client is the only version I've found that can
connect - 8.0.1 just doesn't work, neither does the embedded
version in the Notes client.
4 Nathan T Freeman Permalink The IBM CIO doesn't care about yellow people.
5 Scott Hooks Permalink @4. OK Kanye.
6 Scott Hooks Permalink @All - I should have clarified that I am aware only certain client versions work. To me, that means "still isn't fixed."
7 Ted Hardenburgh Permalink Every morning on my Notes 8.5 client I login to (or try) BleedYellow, Lotus911 and extst.ibm.com in the distant hope that one day it'll magically work. (How fascinating!) Every morning I get downward spirals for extst.
Is it really necessary to restrict the client types that connect to
that server? Isn't that a great way to show backwards compatability
- "Hey, you can login with a Sametime 1.5 client on 8.0, try that
with your LCS/OCS/whatever!". Or if they do insist on restricting
the client, can't they look at their own technote and get someone
to update the sametime.ini as new clients are released? How long
would that take?
Wouldn't creating a ini setting that checks for a minimum version
be a better idea? It would still take 3 yrs to implement on the
extst server, but others might find it useful. Maybe after IBM
upgrades their external Quickplace server to Quickr (19 months in
the making) they'll get around to Sametime. Unless that person was
RA'd this week.
There - I think I've hit all the hot buttons :)
8 Simon O'Doherty Permalink Asked about this and was given the following link.
https://www-1.ibm.com/collaboration/instantmessaging/ .
It has a web based Sametime client that appears to work. Don't know
anything about the supported versions beyond that link.
9 Scott Hooks Permalink @8: Wow! It's been a long time since I've seen that client (3.1 !?!), but it did work, so thanks. I remain amazed that is the "solution" though.
10 David R DeWell Permalink I saw this on Nathan's blog and asked about it internally at IBM. The response I received was that it was on "The List" at the CIO level in IBM to get done.
In the meantime, BleedYellow seems to be the place I find business
partners if they need to chat about things.
11 Daniel Hasa Trackback I have now 8.02CCH3 and it also did not work (as in 8.02). With my Pidgin Client which is using MeanWhile I can get connected and I see everybody.
The problem is that only certain st-clientversions are allowed to
connect (as I've read until 8.0 it should work).
In meanwhile there is an option to hide the client identity. Does
anybody know how to do that in the embedded client?
12 Daniel Hasa Trackback I don't know how it is with you... But this afternoon it started to work out of 8.02!
13 Scott Hooks Permalink @11 & 12: Well. I got it to work with Pidgen (sometimes) a
couple of weeks ago after your post (thanks BTW), but it still
won't work from my 8.0.1 ST client or Notes 8.5. Can't upgrade to
ST 8.0.2 yet because of my ST Advanced config. I'll post updates if
I ever have any.
14 Daniel Hasa Trackback this drives me crazy... since yesterday it stopped working....
nobody knows how to set this meanwhile-setting in the standard
client?

15 Travis Hiscock Permalink The IBM Sametime server is still running Sametime 3.1. >

Over a year on again, and I'm amazed IBM are still running this old
POS. All the Kelros ST Servers are running the latest release.
