Thank you to those who have already started participating in BleedYellow .com. We have over 250 registrations and thousands of hits in just 2.5 days. Wow! This is a great opportunity to start a blog and gain visibility from the community. As of today, we are announcing an initiative that will allow

A tag is a keyword that is used to categorize an entry. To view the entries with a particular tag, click a tag name or enter a tag in the box.
The tag cloud indicates the frequency of tag use. Popular tags appear darkest. The slider control adjusts how many tags are displayed in the tag cloud.
1 Daniele Vistalli Permalink I've already integrated my BleedYellow Javlin card into my blog at www.vistalli.it and it's working fine.
About more features....
- Well, one for all... OpenID registration/login. I've begun
working on some experiment to have OpenID process work with
domino.
- Second: profile extensions like links/fields to integrate
multiple IM awareness / Flickr/Picasa/Facebook urls (or even
galleries).
- A forum "section" maybe based on openntf templates.
- Some "poll" functionality to be integrated into blogs
- Explicit rating for all the modules: a star based rating system
(like itunes) that can be used to decorate any connections item
(activity, blog post/comment, dogear or community) this would add
to implicit rating (aging/referrals) with an "explicit" voting
system. The challenge will be to be able to filter using
"connections" (product) fields AND extra rating.
That should be enough for a start.
2 Daniele Vistalli Permalink One more thing...
I run YSlow against bleedyellow.com ... There's a lot that can be
done to improve performance... GZIP compression of JS files.
Expires header for static images.
At this time the performace is good... but traffic is going to
increase. Let's plan ahead
3 Scott Hooks Permalink Great ideas Daniele. Interested in writing any of that if I gave you a Notes ID to the integrated Domino server and an API to do it?
4 Chris Whisonant Permalink Daniele, thanks for the great feedback! The performance aspect is definitely something that we will be monitoring and tweaking. Thanks for the comment that performance is good right now.
I've heard that forums are planned for possibly the 2.0 release of
Connections.
As far as other things needed, here are some things you and I have
discussed Scott (good to have it written down...)
- Reverse commenting in blogs. The comments appear with the newest
listed as #1. I've briefly looked into this.
- Presence awareness. May have to do the port 15 hack. ;)
5 Daniele Vistalli Permalink All those ideas come from the work I'm doing myself around connections.
The OpenID thing is very interesting in terms for "security /
identity" mashup but I'm looking for a "good" implementation and
clean integration into domino. (Even if I may be needing a servlet
to do it).
@2: Scott of course participating is great but time is limited ;)
I'll seek you in sametime. I'm doing some work to support
Dominopoint.it (Italian lotus community) and my blog
(www.vistalli.it)
Last but not least ... I've been using ProjectZero.org in the last
few months.. It's definitely something that can bring in a powerful
glue between J2EE & fast development. The best thing is I've
been working with the dev team and now LTPA2 is fully integrated so
you can just jump from a secure domino/connections to quick to
develop applications. Take a look at it's .. It's my favourite
mash-up enabler.
@1: Chris performance is good but dojo.js is still 373 Kb (dojo
0.4) with no expires headers ... setting up mod_headers and
mod_deflate at the IHS level is going to make real difference. I'm
going to do it myself on my server if I've it cooked up soon I'll
be sending you the config fragment.
Bye
