Comments Enabled on My Blog

If you had something to add to my posts on "The Revolution" (and I hope you do), you should be able  to do that now.

Apparently I had comments disabled on my blog. Don't remember changing that setting, so maybe that's the default for BleedYellow? I do have a bit of a user interface complaint, if your blog settings have comments disabled, why does the "Advanced Settings" section for individual blog entries have a checkbox for enabling/disabling comments? I would think this checkbox should be grayed out on individual blog entries if the blog settings don't allow comments.

Another interesting UI feature appears to be that the "Allow comments for..." checkbox for my individual blog entries is getting cleared when I go back and edit a post. Am I the only one having trouble with this?

1 Chris Whisonant      Permalink By default comments are not disabled. I created a test blog yesterday and made no changes. I just checked and comments are enabled. I think you'll find a few other inconsistencies with the UI like you mentioned for not having that box grayed out. Regarding the other, if I uncheck "allow comments", save, then edit the post it does remember that it was unchecked.

2 Keil Wilson      Permalink Thanks Chris. I shouldn't use the word "complaint." I really appreciate the work you've done to get BleedYellow going. I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of this experience ;). Hopefully as I work with this more, I'll continue to learn how these things work.

I've got a problem with my BleedYellow profile/account. I couldn't figure out where/who to contact about that. What's the appropriate avenue to use when you want to contact the BleedYellow admin?

3 Keil Wilson      Permalink Also, it looks to me like only people registered as BleedYellow users can leave comments. Is it true that anonymous users can't leave a comment?

4 Nathan T Freeman      Permalink Yes, only registered users can comment. It's currently a limitation of the Connections platform. (and yes, we're lobbying for a change in that. It's actually why my blog hasn't been migrated yet.)

5 Chris Whisonant      Permalink @2 - No worries! It's a fair complaint - we appreciate the feedback and we work closely with IBM regarding many of these things - as Nathan stated. Yes, we would like to see something done with allowing unauthenticated comments as well. Feel free to email me (hover over my name) if you have some specific issues with your account...
