I created this blog to post neat things I have been doing with my own Lotus Foundation Start server. I am a LFS Partner and have being using it while it was still NitixBlue and I also have over 15 years on building apps on Notes/Domino. I got into Nitixblue because someone recommended it to me (Mark Crosby). I loved the concept of having a server that would look after itself and that never fails! I have a very small company and like to spend most of my time consulting rather than fixing my own system! So, I purchased the Mark I server, got a cable connection at my home office with a static IP from Shaw SOHO, and got all my computers networked to this server. All my stuff is backed up nightly, I got the firewall, spam control, ftp, vpn, you name it! This works great!

Do you want to see it? well, here it is http:\\www.palante.ca
I have attended numerous on-line presentations on both Nitixblue and now Lotus Foundation Start. I decided to create my own site now using Drupal v5.12 as the framework. The installation was simple although I had to deal with file permissions as Linux is not Windows! I used Putty to connect via Telnet and SSH to the server. I also installed PHPMyAdmin to quickly see all the databases and tables. My FTP client is ftp995 as it very easy to use allowed me to change file permissions without having to login and apply chmod to the directories. Word of advice: If you going to do this, always upload via FTP to the WWW directory instead of your Windows File Explorer interface. Remember Linux is NOT Windows! Luckly!
I do intent to have a lot of fun using this technology and love to share it!
