Sametime Advanced and Quickr 8.1

Chris Whisonant

Looks like these two products are now in the wild! Documentation for both products is forthcoming, so check here for Sametime Advanced (as a new topic in the menu) and here for Quickr 8.1.

I've already upgraded a Quickr server. Daniele Vistalli has some quick, but good, notes on upgrading from Quickr 8.0.0.x.

And I'm currently setting up a VMWare machine to use for Sametime Advanced... ;)

Small world

Chris Whisonant

While I was eating dinner at church last night, I was talking to a couple of guys about what they do. I gave my usual "I'm a software consultant". I figure if people are familiar with software, then they will ask. So one guy asked who I was with and said Lotus 911. He asked if that was for Notes and said that they just converted from Notes to Exchange. My reply was "WHY?!?" Anyway, the other guy said that he used to be a Notes admin when they switched from cc:mail. Turns out that he worked at the same company as Mitch Cohen! So I fired up gtalk on my bb and saw Mitch online. They both remembered each other - even though they were in different states they had run into each other. Mitch told me to tell him that a particular box was finally decommissioned and he started laughing - I'm guessing there were problems with that box... ;)

Anyway, it's a small world!

This tip is always popular...

Chris Whisonant

...really popular!! Every time I tell someone this they flip out!

To make manual mail archiving easier, all you have to do is create a folder in your mail file titled "Archive" (with the capital "A" ). Then just drag and drop any emails into that folder. If you have archive settings enabled for your mail file, you will be asked if you would like to archive the documents! The archiving process will be initiated and the documents will be removed from the live mail file (if configured this way) and the Archive folder will be empty. It's just something super swank that Lotus has done.

Don't be bashful

We want to have everyone participating in the im.bleedyellow.com Sametime community. So after many internal discussions about how to prove this, we've released this Official Statement that we have not, do not, and will not be logging chats that occur on this Sametime community.

Forgive my feeds

Chris Whisonant

When I started my BleedYellow blog, I wanted to allow my feedburner subscribers to be able to get updates from both BleedYellow and BlogSpot. I plan to continue contributing at blogspot for non-technical posts.

However, I've had some issues with this....

From initial research at feedburner, I saw that Yahoo! Pipes and RSSMix were recommended to accomplish this. So, I tried the Pipes first, but feedburner couldn't recognize the feed. Then I tried RSSMix and it seemed to work really well for a couple of weeks. But then I noticed that I was no longer seeing updates. No good. So I looked around a bit more and found a slick site called XFruits. But someone pinged me stating that some of my posts were coming through as 12/31/1969! So then I found FeedDigest. It initially seems to work alright - quick updates, correct dates, etc.... But apparently it doesn't handle the publishing of apostrophes in the title of my BleedYellow posts...

I've already posted that there are some issues with Connections feeds through PlanetLotus. So I'm not entirely sure that all of the issues are the fault of the feed mixers or if there is some minor bug with the feed from Connections... :(

Anyway, off to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles season finale! :)
