Someone sent me an email earlier today with an interesting question. Consider that you want to rollout Lotus Notes 8 Standard but only use the Basic configuration (let's consider that the computers only have 512MB RAM, but a memory upgrade will be deployed later). When doing this with Notes as the default mail application, the Standard configuration will be launched. How can you change this?

A tag is a keyword that is used to categorize an entry. To view the entries with a particular tag, click a tag name or enter a tag in the box.
The tag cloud indicates the frequency of tag use. Popular tags appear darkest. The slider control adjusts how many tags are displayed in the tag cloud.
1 Nathan T Freeman Permalink Sonuva...
That person asked me the SAME question when I was one foot out the
door on a Friday evening. David... you're in trouble now! ;-)
Seriously, good catch on the IE thing. I walked him through making
the change on Firefox as well. Hopefully the extra command line
switch wasn't needed there.
2 David Jones Permalink Originally I was just going to ask you where Chris was and to make him sign on IM but figured that mister NTF himself could easily answer the question, which you did. =)
I thanked you in the devWorks, that has to count for something,
right? =)
3 Chris Whisonant Permalink @Nathan - yes, sounds a little desperate... ;)
If you make the one registry change then it should work for all
applications that use the send-to. As always, when you change the
default application, you will have to close any open apps before
that setting will take effect. After I made the registry change in
testing, then "reset" the default mail app, I closed IE and FF and
then opened both again and tested. The Basic Configuration was what
opened.
@David - I was on Google Talk, just didn't have Sametime loaded. At
least you got a quick response from Paul and Nathan and I got
something I could actually blog about! ;)
4 David Jones Permalink Odd, somehow you left my chat list on there so I sent another invitation.
I finally tried what you have here and it doesn't work for me. Any
ideas?
5 Chris Whisonant Permalink @David - that's odd about the chat list. Thanks for dumping me!! ;)
Ping me and we'll see what's up...
