There are three new commercials of Lotus Symphony on YouTube where IBM is attacking MS Office.
I think that this is the best of the tree commericials.
The others you cab find here: A Download Away, and Don't Look Back

Diacritic, LEI and Oracle

For an application that I'm building, I needed to synchronise my Domino Data with Oracle. Then when the data is in Oracle I can access the data easely with Cognos for the creation of reports. There was only one thing that made me nuts, the diacritics where not correct. I looked at several ini settings and forums but I couldn't find what the problem was. Then a Oracle colleage came up with this.

Have a closer look to the Oracle Client that is installed on the (Windows) Server where also my Domino Server runs. If you click on the sever on "My Computer" whith your right mousebutton and then you go to "Properties" then to the tab "Advanced" and then to "Enviroment Variables" you will see this:

Here I had to add: NLS_LANG with the value AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 to the System variables.
Then I rebooted the (Windows) Server and YES! It worked!
The Diacritic are now correct!

I was listening to a podcast of "The Taking Notes Podcast".
It was episode 79 with Nathan Freeman (the freak with the yellow hair I saw at Lotusphere in januari 2008).

It was all about Connections and about Lotus 911 that made it available for everyone. So I decided to sign up and to blog in English what not my strongest skill is, but I will try this so that not only the Dutch people understand what I'm talking about. So you can expect some spell errors but I hope that the stories are understandable!
