Ui

Déjà UI: The distinct feeling that you've already clicked the option to indicate, "not now, I have a headache".
Dear IE8, I'll install you when, and if, I choose to.  But for now, read my clicks, no new IE.

There's nothing like getting "Highlights" in Lo-Fi

Surely it was an accident that the body of this was sent as plain text.
Either that or it was beaten with a traditional Newfoundland musical instrument fashioned out of household and tool shed items.

Re: Do you use the "Restricted System Administrators" functionality in the server document?

In response to: Do you use the "Restricted System Administrators" functionality in the server document?

I agree that the "Restricted System Administrators" field should be designed to work without the requirement that you run the Server Controller on the Domino server and have the Restricted Admin(s) issue server commands via jconsole.

Keeping tabs on your internet users in Domino 8.5

David Brown |   | Tags:  users tell 8.5.1 http 8.5.0.1 8.5 internet | Comments (0)  |  Visits (344)

...Good luck with that.

I've been looking into a session timeout issue for one of our customers that seems to have started around the time their servers were upgraded to 8.5.  They have since been upgraded to 8.5 FP1.  Session timeouts aren't really my primary reason for blogging today, though.  What is my reason for blogging is that, in troubleshooting the problem, I noticed some strange results when issuing "tell http show users" and/or when checking the Internet Users section of the Server > Status tab of the Admin client.  One minute I'd see something like one active session and, after refreshing, I'd see tons more sessions for users that had been connected longer than the single result  I had previously received.

Today, issuing "tell http show users" didn't return anything at all.  Nothing, zip, nada on the server console that amounted to a response to the issued command.

Then I found this gem of a technote.  That's some very reassuring phraseology: "appears to have been fixed".

Here's to hoping.

Documents with Readers Fields do not work as expected in Directory Catalog

David Brown |   | Tags:  dircat reader_names | Comments (3)  |  Visits (316)

Was chasing my tail for quite some time this morning on a dircat issue before Chris helped me zero in on this little gem.
Even if the server is allowed to read the document, if the setting is anything other than "All readers and above," the document will not aggregate unless you use Dircat_Include_Readerslist_Notes=1

Thanks Chris!

Random thought o' the day:  Save a life, look twice.  Box turtles are everywhere.
